Summer Break of the Monday drop-in
The crew of the Primrose Hill Community Centre will be having their well-deserved summer break
from the 18th of August until 15th of September 2008, therefore there will be no
Monday Evening Meditation Drop-In sessions during this period.
Please keep this in mind and don't be disappointed if you turn up to a drop-in and nobody is there.

The power of OM
Sarah Womack from the Abu Dhabi National worries: "Personally, I've never found sitting
cross-legged and chanting "om" easy, or indeed relaxing. And according to the "Guide to Complementary Medicine",
I am not alone. Some 400 people a week learn to meditate and then give up within the first year, finding
the switch from worry mode to a blissful state too hard."
Well, maybe they should try to celebrate meditation rather than take it too seriously?

Editorial note
Dear friends
and fellow meditators,
We are now half way through the summer break; people are
relaxing in holiday resorts for example in Greece or Italy or maybe heading away on weekend leisure
retreats. Whatever you are up to this year we hope you may enjoy it! But if you return from your
holiday feeling more in need of having a rest than before you went, then maybe you should
think about if you really did the right thing.
Or maybe your current work life is threatening you with an approaching burn-out
rather than job satisfaction and it is endangering your private life.
So what is it that you are in search of?
Herodotus a Greek author who lived 484-430/420BC talks about burn-out: "If a man insisted
always on being serious, and never allowed himself a bit of fun and relaxation, he would
go mad or become unstable without knowing it."
And Leonardo Da Vinci the Italian draftsman, Painter, Sculptor, Architect and Engineer
whose genius epitomised the Renaissance humanist ideal knew: "Every now and then go away,
have a little relaxation, for when you come back to your work your judgment will be surer.
Go some distance away because then the work appears smaller and more of it can be taken
in at a glance and a lack of harmony and proportion is more readily seen."
Whatever makes you suffer and worries you – take a deep breath and slow down.
It is time to relax, look inside and gain an insight into what you really need.
We call that mindfulness.
If you'd like to find out more about mindfulness – whether you're an individual or a HR
executive in charge of your company's employees – please feel free to get in touch with Susann
(for meditative therapy)
or Albert (for coaching based on introspection and meditative techniques).
In the meantime we hope you continue to enjoy the holiday season and take care of yourself
– mindfully!
Greetings
Susann and Albert
