Good sharing enhanced to "community" feeling. Dark chocolate experience resonated with me and the mindful communication was also good. Teaching sessions very memorable – the 5 stages of Acceptance very well taught...

quotation marks I found it most useful to have the opportunity to reflect and be still both in a guided way. I’m really asking myself about suffering (tend to work with other’s suffering!). I really enjoyed and taking away a lot...

quotation marks The narrated story was very powerful and illuminating and works still in my mind...

quotation marks The strength of the event was the fact that I came here not knowing what to expect and left with lots of gifts. This workshop has been a fantastic experience. The teacher was very friendly, helpful, understanding and extremely experienced. I definitely left with new found insights which I will be putting into practice in my life...

quotation marks I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed Sunday’s workshop. I found both the guided meditations and writing exercise particularly helpful...

I really did enjoy the day. The atmosphere was very conducive to meditation and I particularly loved the fact that the 60 minute sessions changed posture, which meant I could meditate for longer without getting uncomfortable. I also totally loved the mindful eating! I have to say the effects of the day have helped me have a wonderful day today – it had the potential to be quite an annoying Monday and I have remained very unflappable! I am sure you will see me at another Urban Retreat Day in the not too distant future. Many thanks again...

quotation marks Just wanted to drop you a quick email to say thank you again for Saturday’s Urban Retreat. I have now had time to digest the day and feel the wonderful after effects of spending so much time with ’me’. I understand now why my partner raves about you and Albert’s teachings...

quotation marks Thanks for introducing me to meditation and mindfulness. It’s easy to forget during the frustrating moments that it really has already changed my life!...

quotation marks I like the poetry of inspirational teachers. I realize that this is non-religious but I love the warmth and encouragement of wise people. Susann, you were a lovely guide. Thank you so much...

quotation marks Susann continues to impress and inspire me – a truly remarkable woman!...

quotation marks Great food. Good structure. Calming atmosphere. I will definitely join again for another weekend...

quotation marks Good mix of different practices. I thought the silence was very powerful...

quotation marks Very special place you have both created here. Very rewarding experience as always at London Meditation...

quotation marks I enjoyed the different types of meditation practice, the mindful lunch, the lovely venue. Feel like I need some more intensive sessions. Good structure, good to vary the day. Great food!...

quotation marks The strengths of the event: being with like-minded people and having the opportunity to experience a whole day of quiet, just for myself...

quotation marks I found most useful the guidance – certain comments /reminders at exactly the right moment. The slow re-introduction of communication at the end. The wonderful food. The lovely environment...

quotation marks Practice, practice, practice – felt more intensive than yesterday which was good for me...

When I did the meditation course of London Meditation I was a complete beginner. My only experience had been a few sessions of active meditation in the Monday drop-in. After the course I definitively have a deeper and new understanding of meditation. Most importantly – I learned a lot of small techniques which are very helpful to learn meditation. I now practise these techniques in my everyday life. The course was very intense and inspiring. It was tailored to my individual needs and all specific questions I had were taken into account. Susann is a great teacher. I do warmly recommend the Meditation course.

Mindful Self-Compassion Workshop

A One-Day Workshop at the home of London Meditation:
The Penthouse, 89 – 95 Parkway, Camden Town, NW1 7PP

Your facilitator/teacher Susann Herrmann (CPsychol./OccupPsychol., MA)
is trained by various teachers such as the pioneers in the field of self-compassion:

  • Christopher Germer, Ph.D. and Kristin Neff, Ph.D.

All are welcome!

As human beings, most of us instinctively fight negative experiences and find fault in ourselves when things go wrong:
"This shouldn’t be happening!" "What’s the matter with me!?"

Unfortunately, this tendency just adds stress to our lives and the critical self-talk defeats us before we know what we’re doing.

But what would happen if, instead, you took a moment to calm and comfort yourself when you felt bad, just because you felt bad – much like you’d do for others? In other words, what if you learned the art of mindful self-compassion: Bearing witness to our own suffering (mindfulness) and responding with kindness and understanding (self-compassion). It’s an emotional skill that can be learned by anyone.

Content:

This workshop will provide simple tools for responding in a kind, compassionate way whenever we suffer, fail, or feel inadequate – essential steps toward living a happier, more fulfilling life. You’ll learn:

  • how to stop being so hard on yourself
  • how to handle difficult emotions with greater ease
  • how to motivate yourself with encouragement rather than criticism
  • mindfulness and self-compassion exercises for everyday life

We will take a journey into mindfulness and self-compassion, including meditation, exercises, and discussion.

Dates / Time:

  • Sun Jan 11 – MSC Workshop (1.00 - 6.00pm)
  • Sat Feb 21 – MSC Workshop (1.00 - 6.00pm)
  • Sat Mar 28 – MSC Workshop (2.00 - 7.00pm)

Mindfulness Urban Retreat Day

An ’all-day’ retreat including brunch

A practice day at the home of London Meditation:
The Penthouse, 89 – 95 Parkway, Camden Town, NW1 7PP

Your meditation facilitator Susann Herrmann
(CPsychol./OccupPsychol., MA) is trained by various teachers such as

  • Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D. and Saki Santorelli, Ph.D.

Suitable for new and experienced meditators.

Mindfulness is a basic human quality, a way of learning to pay wise attention to whatever is happening in your life that allows you a greater sense of connection to your life inwardly and outwardly.

Mindfulness is also a practice, a systematic method aimed at cultivating clarity, insight and understanding. In the context of your health, mindfulness is a way for you to experientially learn to take better care of yourself by exploring and understanding the interplay of mind and body and mobilizing your own inner resources for coping and growing.

Content:

A day in our oasis of light, calmness and inspiration.

This day of meditation training provides time and space for focused practice which can deepen mindfulness skills and strengthen your ongoing practice at home.

Mindful awareness allows us to be present with anything that arises within our experience with the quality of acceptance, spaciousness and calmness. It is the foundation for living with wisdom, compassion and freedom.

In this day of silence, meditation and contemplation, we will explore this innate quality of awareness. And specifically we investigate how to cultivate mindfulness of breath, body, feelings and thoughts during guided sitting & walking periods, and how to apply this to all waking moments such as eating Albert’s delicious home-prepared food. We will also inquire into what interferes with establishing this mindful presence.

Not having experienced it, some people may feel a little apprehensive about spending a longer time in silence, practising meditation. However, almost everyone reports feeling deeply refreshed and restored by this experience and also that the practice gets embodied in a way that they have not experienced by having only done the shorter practice in the group or at home.

You are most welcome to attend again. You can use this as a refresher for your mindfulness practice or as a restorative day of silence in your life.

Enjoy the tranquillity of our urban retreat in Camden Town.
